![]() ![]() When you switch it to Always it will override default TotalFinder behavior and folders opened from external apps will open as Finder’s native tabs.ĭefault option is In Full Screen Only but you might want to change it to Manually if you want to use TotalFinder in full screen mode. But there is a system-wide Dock option which interferes with this behavior.Īs we’ve recently discovered the option toggle in System Preferences -> Dock -> Prefer tabs when opening documents. When I open new folders in Finder they open as Finder’s native tabs. Instead of opening into its own window, new tabs will open among the tabs of the last active window. ![]() For example clicking on a DMG file opens a new Finder window.Īfter checking this option newly created windows start as new windows. Please note that new Finder windows can be opened as a result of some event. Freelance Windowsīy default TotalFinder forces all new Finder windows to be opened as new tabs of the last active TotalFinder window. Now I’m wondering if it’s possible to apply different colours to ALL sidebar shortcuts (including personal folders), not just system icons like Applications, Pictures etc. Checking this option makes TotalFinder’s tab bar smaller and saves 14 pixels of precious vertical space. Hi, I’ve just discovered the joy of TotalFinder, releasing me from the dungeon of OSX greydom. System-wide access - With TotalFinder, convenience is key: With the stroke of a hot. ![]() Use narrow Tabs Barįor people who are running OSX on small notebooks with small displays. TotalFinder merges everything into a workflow-friendly, tab-based layout. Toggle Dual Modeĭual mode is covered in a separate article about Dual Mode in TotalFinder. Please note that this option will also disable the Visor and Dual Mode features. Some people prefer to use native Finder tabs. Might those facts be (at least part of) the cause?Īs an example, the dual-HHDs solution sometimes generated troubles, like for instance the desktop image, that I had to copy onto the SSD, since keeping it on the secondary HD (that is my SSHD in the primary S-ATA bay, as stated) would not be used as desktop picture and the standard original Sierra image have been automatically used in place of my custom chosen one, for reasons unknown to me - although I am thinking of some priorities that escape my mind during the booting process).Note that adding ⌘⌥← and ⌘⌥→ overrides standard Finder shortcuts for expanding items in the list view. I am starting to have some doubts about the fact that my iMac 27" mid 2011 has 2 HDs (an SHDD in the primary S-ATA bay and an SSD in the opti-bay which obviously is the one I normally boot from), and I am running continuously TotalFinder, kept updated as much as I can. ![]() I deleted Finder prefs (in user/library/preferences), I rebooted many times (I tend to put my iMac to sleep for days, rather than switching it on and off), I did all I could think of, but… no go. I keep reordering them many times every day, but to no avail. In brief, randomly the Finder sidebar keeps reordering elements in its own order (with no logic to me, but I am human and not a piece of software, so most likely I cannot grasp such a behaviour □). I am having a similar problem, only I am running Sierra 10.12.6 (Finder is v.10.12.5) and NOT High Sierra. ![]()
